“Diddys came to my attention in 2019 when I was invited to a book launch. The bathroom looked exactly like my aunty’s childhood bedroom that I had always been put in whenever we stayed at my gran’s house (minus the toilet obviously). Her whole room was purple. But 70’s purple. The OG purple. Proper purple. Purple satin sheets, purple curtains, purple cushions. Purple purple purple. As soon as I walked into this room it all came flooding back. Who knew childhood memories of my auntie’s childhood bedroom would be tucked away in a Hackney coffee/cocktail bar.”
